Home and away

Home and away

A picture from Morups Tånge in Halland Sweden. I lived just one kilometre from this proud lighthouse from the age of 13 to 27. Made me think about what’s home. In my first 13 years we moved as many times so this was the first time I actually felt rooted. I drove past the farm and the new owners had changed pretty much everything. So the feeling of home was not for me anymore, all gone. Maybe it’s like that song “wherever I lay my hat, that’s my home”. What do you think?

There’s no place like home, ha de Gött!

Lost

Lost

Wait in vain at the baggage claim.

Standing there looking at the suitcases

traveling the forth or fifth round on the conveyor

bound for somewhere else

slowly realizing that in some other airport

far away, there is another poor soul

with the same empty distrusting face

looking at the conveyor in despair

realizing that the underwear

has to be worn inside out tomorrow.

Don’t you hate when this happens, ha de Gött!

What if

What if

What if

Jesus rode in today
would it be on a
a noisy chopper bike
in a bikers leather west
white halo helmet
or
an electric scooter
letting the long hair
fly in the wind
-
would it be
blast through the doors
of the shopping mall
in the escalator declare
our sins with bombastic words
or
sitting down by the hobo
look with tears in eye at
the steel and glass temple of banks

You can’t bring anything when you finally go, ha de Gött!

As time goes by

As time goes by

It has come to this, I fear
The passing, of another year
Reminiscing all, that's done
thirty one million five hundred fifty six thousand nine hundred twenty six seconds, all gone
Circle closes then takes another turn, my dear

Don’t wait, it may be too late, ha de Gött!

I’ve been struggling with the last line and I’m not really satisfied. I like to invite you to come up with another last line. Thank you in advance.

Winter solstice

Winter solstice

Today is the shortest day of the year. Sun raise at 09:06 and sets 15:21 here at 58°N, already tomorrow will be one minute longer. To my surprise it came with some light after a period with dark grey skies. To top it all, I had the afternoon off and there was 10 centimetres of snow.

Don’t tell my wife but, I climbed a mountain to get some nice photos of the windmill in the low standing and pale sunlight. Takes some time to get up but getting down is quite fast in the snow.

It is better to get down safely than gracefully, ha de Gött!

Advent

Advent

It starts already in September

sneaks up on you

when you least expect

you freeze, a shiver down your spine

but there, in the windings of the brain

the deceiving jingling pops up

welcome as zits in a teenage mirror

You try to fight it off, but then

but then in the shop

the frantic wailing from Mariah

all I want for Christmas is youOUOUOUOUOUOUOUOU

it sticks in your poor brain

like chewing gum under your shoe

You flee out the door while trying to keep your lunch

trying to calm down with a nice coffee

only to be punched in the face by

the ultimate torture

last Christmas I gave you my heart

a Wham in your gut

then you know, you have to succumb

to three months of terror

stumbling off, hollow eyes and pale

whistling jingle bells, jingle bells

Let the celebration begin, ha de Gött!
