This is one of my favourite places, Tjurpannan nature preserve close to my home. Normally it’s quite easily accessible but this day I had to walk 5km in 35 centimetres of snow and at -15°C. I think it was worth it!
Some struggles are worth having, ha de Gött!

Different angles of the same waterfall outside Munkedal, Sweden. The top part is quite easy to reach but the lower part with a higher drop is not so easy with the ice and mud.
Remember to keep the lens dry, ha de Gött!

After some lovely winter days last week with cold and snow it is now 20°C warmer. Rain and melting snow overflows rivers and creeks.
Keep your feet dry, ha de Gött!

Do you know how hard it is to fly around, scream and shit all over, asked the gull. Especially in this dreadful storm. Can’t I just sit here in leeward for awhile and rest, maybe taste some of that lunch?
I said, sure but can you guarantee that you will not take of, call your friends and have them dump all over me and then fly off in screaming laughter. Try me, he said. But are you willing to take the chance not to share?
I let him have a bite of my sandwich, and for a moment we were the best of friends, sitting next to each other in silent coexistence. I put the remains of my lunch into my backpack and stood up ready to go. A final look at each other before he took of with a loud scream. He circled a few times around me, and I think he waved with his grey wings.
Be kind, ha de Gött!

Today a video from the photo workshop at Åkulla Beech forests. Step in to autumn colour heaven.

Dare to look underneath, ha de Gött!

Just got back from a weekend photography workshop. I met up with other 12 photo enthusiasts in the southwest of Sweden, in an area called Halland. More precisely, in Åkulla Bokskogar, just outside Ullared. The region is known for its vast deciduous forest, primarily made up of beech trees.
Surrounded by a stunning display of autumn colours we were guided through these cathedrals and along small streams by the renowned photographer Patrik Leornadsson.

The weather forecast had warned of heavy rain all weekend, so I packed a large trunk of rain clothes and shoes. Fortunately, the weather out better than expected. We had some light rain and even a few minutes of sunshine, so most of the extra clothes came home unused.
Instead I brought back new knowledge, fresh inspiration, and around 500 pictures to sort and edit during the dark evenings ahead. It was also a pleasure to meet others who share the same passion, and to exchange thoughts on creative processes, challenges, and techniques.

Don’t wait, go out and create. Ha de Gött!

In fading late summer light.
Fairies come out in dance.
Shy, in long white veils.
Melting together in mist.
Tucking in nature for the night.
Svensk version
Älvdans
I blekt sensommarljus.
Älvorna komma ut i dans.
Blygt, i långa vita slöjor.
Smälter samman i dimma.
Stoppar om naturen för natten.
This is inspired by my father-in-law who had a name for this type of mist “Älvdans” Fairy Dance. Ha de Gött!
