Tracks in the snow shows the way to go, ha de Gött!

For a couple of weeks it has been cold below 0°C but the ocean still doesn’t freeze. A strong offshore wind from the northwest and the high content of salt prevents that.
Still, people go swimming even in this. They were skinny dipping so I did not take any pictures of that! It was like a Ingmar Bergman film, even the sky was blushing.
Sometimes you need to see the naked truth, ha de Gött!

The ice is settling in the fjord and the last boat out left a trail.
Dress warm, ha de Gött!

I just realized editing this photo that it’s unique. The same scene will never appear again. This snow is already gone and even if it will snow again it will at best be, same same but different!
The past is the past but the future is an enigma, ha de Gött!

Finally there was some light and I was off work. I backed my camera gear and headed out in the morning. What a morning, -11°C and light offshore winds. From the still warm sea the sea smoke rose and danced around Väcker lighthouse like fairies.
Stay tuned for more pictures to come and also check out my Instagram.
Dressed for success, ha de Gött!

Snow landscape covered in white under a cold blue sky.
Ha de Gött!

They said I was getting too hot, blowing my fuses
Don’t make such fuzz, just go with the buzz
All winter sleep it off, hibernate
I was getting worked up, would not take more abuses
Fake news, just a bunch of lies to uz
There’s no winter, I will debate
Challenge, but don’t be foolish, ha de Gött!

These bright red berries under the snow sits on the Guelder Rose (Viburnum opulus). In Swedish Olvon. The berries does not taste very well so they are left on the up to five meters high bushes even during winter. They are edible in small quantities even if it’s toxic causing vomiting and diarrhea. It has a distinct acidic taste. Used in nature medicine to relieve muscle cramps.
Don’t judge by the exterior, ha de Gött!

They say that every snowflake is unique. Makes me wonder who’s been checking them all? True or not, King Frost has an amazing ability to create fantastic displays. Together with the low standing suns amazing light, this was on display yesterday.
Stop, you will see beauty around you, ha de Gött!

The low standing winter sun and night frost creates this exiting light. Tomorrow is winter solstice when sun rises 09:06, barely makes it over the horizon before it sets again 15:21. Then the light starts to come back again. Still the sun wins over Jack Frost and creates a mist over the fields.
Where there is darkness there is light, decide which you want to be. Ha de Gött!
