White wagtail

The White wagtail (Motacilla alba) has its name from the constant wagging of its tail. It’s a migrating bird that, like rich retired people, fly to the Mediterranean during winter. Usually come back in April. According to my father, who was a farmer, it should arrive April 4th. If not, the harvest would be late and poor. Likes open country near water. National bird of Latvia. Ha de Gött!

  1. We get wagtails here in the UK Ulle. They’re called Hoche queue in France, which means the same thing.
