Moose

Moose

Not a full grown but still it’s antler has 8 spikes. We’ve met before and closer but then I didn’t manage to get the camera out. This time I finally did but not with the zoom lens on.

The moose (Alces alces) or elk in British English can be found in northern Europe, America and Asia. It’s also referred to as the King of the Forest since the the antle looks like a crown. They are normally not very dangerous but as all wild animals they can be agressive if they feel threatened.

Highest risk for both moose and human is road accidents. It’s one of the highest accident rates in Scandinavia. During 2025 there was 6500 road accidents involving a moose and 75% of them were killed. This is why Volvo has a special crash test for avoiding or hitting a moose.

Götaverken/Cityvarvet cranes

Last dockside cranes standing as a landmark for the shipyard era in the city of Göteborg, Sweden. At its peak 1950 there was over 200 cranes in the harbour of Göteborg. Today the future of these landmarks of Sweden as a leading shipbuilding nation is uncertain.

The new landmarks looks different like the Karla Tower with the nickname “The Zipper”. It is a symbol for the transformation of the shipyards to offices and housing for the high tech companies and the universities.

The Karla Tower rising 246m over the old Götaverken drydock.

Change is inevitable, ha de Gött!

Mustasch

Mustasch

One of my favourite metal bands came to our little town, Grebbestad, and I got the opportunity to take some photos of them. A bit of a challenge in the headbanging crowd.

The band Mustasch started in 1998 in Göteborg and the name is allegedly coming from the fact that the bands role models had a moustaches, like Freddy Mercury in Queen. With over 10 albums the band has a growing audience in Scandinavia and north Europe. They are available on Spotify and YouTube.

The thing I like with their music is the raw but melodic music with heavy guitar riffs. The lyrics are worth listing to.

Rock on, ha de Gött!
